NEWS - march 2022
Improvements continue at Recreation Ground
Over the past couple of years, the Committee has improved and increased the range of play equipment available. Over £15,000 has been raised. This has been possible thanks to the support of the National Lottery, Dorset Council and the Parish Council and local residents.
Last year a new piece of equipment was installed thanks to a kind donation of £2,000 by Jo and Nigel Stephenson. Just before Christmas Nigel was able to double this amount with a donation from the American company he works for. Is the organisation you work for as community minded? If it is we would love to hear from you.
So, in a few months another piece of new equipment will be installed for our younger residents and visitors.
Stormy weather last October brought a tree down into neighbouring gardens, which was cleared By Ian Geddes Tree Care as a result of a kind donation by the Toller Porcorum Community Land Trust. Janet, Aaron and Sophie have been very patient whilst we address an insurance claim.
A big thank you to George Sartin and his team as they lay the hedge at the bottom of the field. The hedge between the allotments and the recreation ground will be tackled shortly. Thanks to the Parish Council and Village Hall Committee for their support and interest in this piece of hedging.
Works on laying the hedge on the far side of the recreation ground hopefully will be tackled next winter.
Thanks also goes to the Woodland Trust for donating 105 wild woodland saplings. These will be planted by members of our Village Youth Group to form a woodland area as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
The Recreation Committee is always looking for new members. If you are interested email me on farmer85@outlook.com or tel: 01300321011.
Neil Farmer – Chairman Recreation Association.
